Talk: Ellie Bradley

Last week we spoke with Atelier Lane’s Founder & CEO Ellie Bradley, about Atelier Lane. Here’s what she said.

Ellie Bradley, Interior Designer Hong Kong

What is Atelier Lane’s design philosophy?

“It’s what we call Refined Sophistication. The foundation is in modern contemporary interior design; defined by open, clean lines and modern architecture, that celebrates innovation. We take a refined and minimalistic approach to our concepts and focus on a sophisticated neutral palette often accented with bold pops of colour. We use noble materials such as wood, metal and stone and to finish a home, we choose statement accents with an emphasis on layering soft furnishings to create warm and inviting spaces. This stylistic approach allows us to curate a bespoke look for every property, whilst also achieving a level of quality and finish that we pride ourselves on.”

What’s special about interior design in Hong Kong?

“Hong Kong is one of the most vibrant cities in the world, and interior design in Hong Kong reflects this. We are at the centre of east meets west which enables us to create some truly unique spaces. It’s an incredible city and we feel fortunate to be apart of interior design in Hong Kong.

Tell us about a memorable design project?

It is one we are currently working on, a duplex penthouse apartment on Stubbs Rd, Hong Kong. Along with the overall interiors we are designing and building a one off sweeping circular staircase to connect the upper and lower floors, it’s a grand contemporary design statement that will be the first thing you see as you enter the space and set the tone for the rest of the apartment.

Do you have specific locations in Hong Kong you like to work?

There are many incredible areas of Hong Kong and we’ve been fortunate to bring our interior designs to many of them, including The Peak, Shouson Hill , Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, Clearwater Bay, Stanley, Kowloon West, Shek O, Mid-Levels, Central, Soho, Happy Valley, and Mount Davis.

How has technology enhanced the potential of your work?

Predominantly in the range of bespoke materials that we have access to. For example, innovations that have allowed for the development and creation of entirely new material finishes. One such example is wood leather, when combined with advanced laser etched patterning it is a unique and outstanding material that can be used across a wide variety of interior applications and finishes.

Who is your dream client?

The opportunity to design a boutique luxury hotel has always been on my list of dream projects so anyone who owns one would count as a dream client, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

What’s next for your company?

Building on our success of creating and delivering beautiful spaces for our current and future clients whether they be homes or offices, restaurants, or retail. Expanding our product range to include more bespoke furniture pieces and hoping that 2021 isn’t as eventful as 2020 has been for all of us.
